Selkirk Hoodoo Lives on as 1s fall short in the Borders!

08 Aug 2016

Facing a tricky tie in the borders to kick off August, DTs had a tough time on a really difficult wicket in Selkirk. Losing the toss and batting first, Dts managed 89 from 37.3 overs with Sharez and Mikey both top scoring on 20. A few crucial run outs at key stages combined with the nature of the pitch made for a difficult day out for the DT batsmen.

In response, Selkirk came out positively and despite quiet overs in the middle kept moving the score along. Dinesh (2 wickets) and Uday (3 wickets) were the standout bowlers and made really good use of the windy conditions but unfortunately we were never able to completely get on top of the Selkirk batsmen and they reached the target with 5 overs to spare. Nevertheless, well done DTS for the fighting spirit and the 'never say die' attitude, characterised by a stunning one handed boundary catch by Sharez running backwards with only a few runs remaining. One win against Carlton next Saturday could virtually guarantee promotion for the 1s and let's use this defeat to bounce back hard next Saturday!
