Upcoming Fixtures and Reminder of No Spectators Rule

21 Aug 2020

Dear DTs Members,

It was great to have two Drummond Trinity 11s sporting the clubs colours last weekend (including some new faces) after such a long lay off. Weather permitting, we hope to have two matches per weekend with our final fixtures of 2020 on weekend of 5/6 September- please see the club website for details and to update your availability if you have not done so already.

We have been asked by ESCA to remind our members of the unusual playing procedures-so I have attached the short guide again to this email. There were a number of issues across ESCA last weekend (not necessarily in the games we played in), so they have asked us to particularly remind everyone that;

  • all teams must undertake 6 over sanitisation breaks
  • No communal teas
  • No Asking umpires to hold sweaters/caps, etc
  • No Passing the ball round the field to return to bowler
  • maintain social distance

One other issue that was more relevant to us is to remind you that we are not allowed to have spectators at games (as this can lead to a breakdown in social distancing and groups congregating). This is particularly challenging for us as a we are a friendly and supportive club and people (me included) have a tradition of wandering down to support and have a chat with our players during matches at Inverleith and elsewhere. For now could you avoid doing this if at all possible, and if you do pop past a game in action please not enter a ground (if at a private club), or come over to the scoring table/changing area.

Thanks to all of you for your support so far, and I hope the weather stays fair and allows us to get some cricket over the next few weeks,

cheers

Tom (Club Secretary)
