Happy New year to all DTs! I hope this email finds you well – if a bit cold – and looking forward to another year of cricket and socialising with your fellow DTCC members.
This year’s club activity begins shortly with the start of our bumper 10-week block of pre-season indoor training sessions at 10am on Sunday 29 January. More details will be circulated in a separate email shortly.
As previously circulated via WhatsApp, the first social event of the year is on Friday 10 February when we will be holding the Annual General Meeting (AGM), followed by dinner and the formal presentation of the awards for season 2022. For those that are unaware, this is the club’s main social event of the year and serves not only as a great chance to catch up with all your fellow clubmates and celebrate with the various award winners, but also provides the club with a great opportunity to show our thanks and commitment to one of our main sponsors, the Spice Lounge Kitchen.
The format of this year’s event will be similar to last time, but a key difference is that we are asking members to commit their attendance by paying in advance – further details are set out below. By asking for this advance payment, the Committee aims to minimise the risk of over/under catering for the dinner due to no-shows or unexpected arrivals.
In addition, to assist the club in demonstrating the amount our members spend on both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks at the venue, we will be using a drinks voucher system on the night. Each member attending will be given a £10 voucher which should be used when ordering any drinks during the evening. Further vouchers can be bought from designated Committee members on the night. Note: if you don’t think you’ll use all of your £10 voucher, please simply “trade” any balance for cash with one of the many members who will no doubt be spending much more than £10 on drinks during the evening! Apologies if this seems a bit complicated and old fashioned – we are trialling this voucher system and feedback after the event would be useful. Hopefully the venue will be able to record all DTCC orders electronically at some point soon.
As those of you who have eaten at the Spice Lounge Kitchen before will already know, the food is always great! We are all aware of the significant rise in food costs over the last year or so and the Committee has agreed that club will partially subsidise the dinner cost for members. We hope that you agree that the effective cost of just £20 for a superb 3-course meal with all the extras represents a cracking deal.
