FROM ESCA President Phil Yelland As you may already know Cumbria Cricket have made an appeal to help 8 clubs badly affected by floods - they aim to raise £24,000. ESCA sponsors Baillie Gifford have pledged to match donations up to £5,000. Considering how Baillie Gifford support ESCA, let us now support Baillie Gifford by spreading the word about the appeal. We have all seen the devastating floods which hit Carlisle last week. Eight cricket clubs have had their grounds severely damaged. Cumbria Cricket limited have launched an appeal (https://crowdfunding.justgiving.com/floodedcumbriaclubs) "Appleby, Carlisle, Cockermouth, Edenhall, Kendal, Keswick, Rockcliffe & Workington Cricket Clubs have been flooded by Storm Desmond. It's caused much damage to facilities indoor & out which will cost a huge amount of resource, human & financial to put right. All of the clubs are run by volunteers, many of whom have had their own homes flooded; and they need the support of our wonderful cricket family and community in Cumbria and throughout the Country. Visit Cumbria Cricket Ltd's FaceBook page." Several of our clubs have ties with clubs from Cumbria. Even if you have no connection, I am sure that you would love to make a difference. Baillie Gifford has already made an amazing offer to match all donations made by Dec 31st up to £5,000. I didn't know about the problem until this morning, and I expect there are lots of ESCA cricketers who would like to help with a donation however small.
