Rizwan has really made his mark in the DTs in Season 2009 after his premature retiral in 2008 "It's not worth playing it rains too much! A fine swing bowler who varies his bowling intelligently Rizwan is also a decent batsman. He can defend when that is required (an innings of Coolio-like stoicism at Kinross comes to mind) and attack as he did brilliantly at Loretto earlier this season. Possibly the most rubbish sprinter in the DTs (and that is saying something with Jack and Victor around). Attempts by Jamal to coach him - "Take bigger steps!!" have failed miserably.

Unfeasibly tall Essex lad who opens the bowling regularly for the club. On rare occasions he has some control over what he does with the ball, a fine purveyor of the swing bowling art. A committed number 11 batsman, Steve has held the fort on several occasions but still craves that elusive first 50. Once famously gave skipper Steve Coulson out LBW to a ball that struck the batsmen 3 yards down the track and was missing the wicket keeper, let alone leg stump.

Tahir is one of the most attacking batsmen in the 2s. Famous for playing himself in with an almighty hoik to cow corner and completely eschewing the niceties of the forward defensive, there is usually entertainment when Tahir is at the crease.

Not played much at all but enthusiastic 41 yearold.

Known as the Geoffrey Boycott of the team. Steve is convinced this is because of his prodigious run scoring, stoic opening batting and Yorkshire origins and has absolutely nothing to do with the rate at which he scores said runs. Also known to bowl possibly the slowest medium pace in the East League (certainly in over-10 games). Specialist slip fielder except when dolly catches bounce off his beer belly. Attempts to introduce Marxist philosophy to the team over the years has at least succeeded in forcing Gus to now tell his politically incorrect jokes when Steve is out of earshot.

A recent recruit to the rock n' roll circus that is DTCC, Mike has swiftly become an important member of the team. We are only in May 2006 but already he has bowled "possibly the best ball he has ever seen" and embarrassingly for him said as much in writing on the Discussion board. Actually a very unusual wrist spinner with the potential to take lots of wickets once he avoids those ones that bounce 3 times before getting to the keeper! A keen and safe fielder, Mike ought ot score more runs once he is reacquainted with the joys of wet Scots wickets. Can sometimes be found purging pre-season, post-net excesses' at "Mikey's Corner" Waterloo Place / North Bridge, opposite the Balmoral Hotel, in full view of side stepping pedestrians !

Duffers, also known as Tuffers the cat, is possibly the keenest player in the club. Very much learning his trade, Dave has already shown good ability in the field and managed to get his first runs for the 2s. Learning everytime he turns out, Dave is fast becoming a club stalwart. His devastation of the Peebles County lower order in May 2006 had to be seen to be believed!

Mickey first bumped into Drummond on the Meadows, asked for a game and we have struggled to shake him off ever since. Hailing from Adelaide but now London-based, he is a stand-up comic. But apart from his cricket career he also tells jokes for a living. Actually a more than decent medium pacer and occasional attacking batsmen, Mickey is famous for shouting "Fix it!" from short leg after every wayward delivery i.e. often.

Harry showed last year that he is a more than decent batsman with a brave rearguard action against Haddington at Neilson Park. A particularly sound outfielder and occasional left arm spinner - we expect him to make his mark this year. Does'nt play as much as we would like due to working for the Queen (or something like that) Has been known to spport interesting tartan trews - thankfully not on the cricket pitch it might give Lobby ideas!

Boris has been coaxed out of retirement to once again grace the playing fields of Edinburgh with his strokeplay and good humour. Rumours that he retired to protect his fingers from injury (he plays guitar) are wholly accurate. Remarkably free of bitterness, despite Coolio running him out to end his career best 70 plus v. Dalgety Bay a few years back (Steve was his runner at the time, Boris having broken a nail or something like that!)

John is a club stalwart who hit his first club 50 in season 2008 at Leith Links for the 2s. A more than decent batsman and steady fielder we hope it is the first of many.

Rajiv is a skilled and cultured batsman who has a range of excellent strokes only punctuated occasionally by horrible slogs to leg - usually brought on by the frustration of slow Scots wickets. A very agile and accomplished fielder and one of the safest pairs of hands in the club. Raj also has the distinction of being the first Centurion for the DTs! Has been struggling in the past few seasons with a mystery ankle injury.

Chiefly making his mark as a decent medium pace bowler Al "Junior" Hawkins - stunned the opposition (and his team mates) last year with a match winning 70-odd with the bat. Had some good performances with the ball for both 1s and 2s although he gamely continues to bang it in for the no-existent bounce of the soggy Scots wickets! Rumours that his recent return to Oz was prompted by the prospect of being outed as the Teach's lovechild have been greatly exaggerated!

Out of retirement for the 2008 season as it is almost certainly the last summer he'll be in town. Well it was, but now it's not, so another attempt at a swansong in 2009. Bill has been a fantastic servant to the DTs and in the past few seasons has started to perform really well with bat - especially for someone who has retired! In 2009 he hit his maiden 50, which has cheered him up - marginally. Never knowingly guilty of spotting a silver lining - we hope this Indian Summer of his career goes on for a few years yet!

Danny "huge" Hughes is emerging as one of the DTs most promising young players with bat and ball. Surprisingly he has decided to prepare for season 2008 by coaching tennis to youngsters in Ghana. We look forward to his return later in the season when we are sure he will begin to make a big impact with his all round game.

Stevie is an excellent swing bowler and robust lower order batsman. Probably not taken the wickets his bowling has deserved over the years. Does not suffer fools galdly and has been known to wiled the bat for other than runscoring purposes. Without question owner of the best pony tail in the club.

Possibly the slowest off-spinner in Scotland, John plays the game in the right way. Famously waited until the weekend the Drummond game was the only game in the whole of Britain to be on, to take a 6-for 24, hence making the hallowed pages of the Sunday Times! His batting is always derring-do and often entertaining - just ask the crowd at Boghall a couple of years ago. Better than average gully fielder and inveterate wearer of shorts & Hawaiian shirts.

Al "Good Vibrations" Jardine is in no way related to the balding former Beachboy and Brian Wilson nemesis who goes by the same moniker. He is however a very decent batsman capable of both correct defence and pugnacious attack who recently (July 2009) made a fine 1st team debut which we hope will be the first of many

Possibly the biggest Grimsby fan in the club, Tim is a useful higher order batsman and (usually) very sound fielder, except when playing at Carlton or Grange! Typically took some of the best catches in the club in 2005 then dropped the easiest at a crucial stage v. Carlton. A keen 5-a-side player, his penchant for heading the cricket ball whilst in the field is certainly interesting! Rumours that he has the "ear" of the First Minister are entirely unfounded...

Club legend, Imran Khan blasted his way into DT-lore with a great debut Season 2008. Highlights included a fantastic maiden century followed by a hat trick v Stew Mel 2s on the Ferry Road artificial. An aggressive opening bowler and cultured bat, the DTs look forward to his return from German exile soon.

A firm beleiver in the power of enthusiasm over such piffling concerns as skill or ability Ian sees himself as a spinner with pretensions as a fielder and batter. Everybody else sees a boy with long hair that gets hit to midwicket a lot. When not playing mediocre cricket, Ian teaches fencing, at which he is not bad.

Ranajit "Wicket Time" Majumder is a cultured right handed batsman and dedicated swallower of Scottish culture (say no more!). Hit his first 50 for club when he was allowed to play on a proper pitch at Carlton. Terrific close fielder, his silly mid-on work has to be seen to be believed! You always know he is there though due to his MC Hammer homage of encouragement. Showed his all round fitness last year when he had to be carted off knackered after another 50 v Stenhousemuir! Likes whisky.

Few batsmen in the club can smite leather off willow with more power than Gus. A middle order batsman who often gets runs in quick time and a very good fielder. Also a useful bowler - on occasion! Gus enters the 2010 season as Club & 1st XI Captain for a 2nd year and is confident (!) of an improved league position this season. Once again, Gus will be able to provide himself with lots of advice when in the field - as he's always done for previous Captains!

Gus's older, slimmer and more handsome brother (can it be possible?!)...and the DT's token overseas member!

Regular wicket keeper (the best that Tim Jays has ever seen!), club stalwart and occasional Danny DeVito stunt double. Kevinio is possibly the only living person not directly related to Phil Oakey who not only bought "Living in Electric Dreams" but can actually sing it (when provoked). Steady batsman who is due more runs for the team, Kevin masterminded the Club's record transfer negotiations last year as well as our lucrative sponsorship deal with the Lobster Pot. Electric dreams indeed!

Ian is only ever available for midweek matches as he organizes "senior" games most weekends. A really good wicket keeper and decent batsman. When he found out how old Coolio was he asked him to turn out for one of his veteran teams and amusingly asked if he was a pace bowler!

A journeyman cricketer who has not yet had chance to show off his true "skills" on the cricket field as yet. Takes his golfing prowess onto the wicket, but should try to avoid trying to hit every ball over 300 yards. A useful if sometimes erratic medium pacer.

Jon has somehow survived captaining the DT2s for the past few seasons. It possibly has something to do with his droll humour. A more than decent medium pace bowler and someone who has been known to get good runs for the team (often in adversity). Here's hoping Jon has some cricket stories to laugh at this season!

Brutal fast bowler answering to the name of "Mrs". Specialities include making 10-year-olds cry, marking out his run out in nets, and nicking middle-to-late order wickets after Jammy's done all the hard work.

Manny has burst onto the DT scene this season with his brand of aggressive pace bowling and devastating big hitting. Already promising to be a battle between him and Jamal for most and biggest 6s of the season. Needs to work on that difficult full toss though as it seems to be the one he most often misses! Great fielder also and has already taken some effortless catches in the deep.

Shezhad has firmly established himself in the DT set up with his pugnacious batting style and remarkably accurate leg break deliveries. Beginning to get used to the delightful Scottish wickets and dodgy on field banter. Hit his maiden club 50 before last season got washed down the drain by the wet weather. Often known as Monica - not sure why though?

This man claims to have only really started playing last year after a career of lobbing tennis balls at his wee sister in Afghanistan! Hmm? Excellent new ball bowler, attacking batsman and catch taker. Has been known for occasional lapses in taste (sticking your tongue out at someone when you are catching them is a tad unecessary!). Jamal is a key member of the DTs team...and a recent convert to the wonders of hair gel!

Probably the finest philosopher in East League cricket and certainly one of the most controversially dressed, Steve Pollitt is an exciting attacking batsman and enthusiastic cover fielder. Has also been known to bowl spin and pace although the latter has been known to induce some really bad temper - especially when his skipper failed to understand why he needed 3 fielders at point! Not in the least ontologically challenged. A keen chef with an almost disconcerting love of fish!

John is a relatively recent addition to the stellar cast of athletes that is the DTs. Hailing from deepest Yorkshireland we expect many fine exploits on the field and that he will buy lots of rounds in the pub!?

Useful purveyor of gentle medium pace bowling and more than useful purveyor of a 5 iron - JR is in no way related to chunky Hibee tormentor Robbo - though his batting is possibly of a similar standard to aforementioned centre forward.

Guarav started playing for DTs in Season 2008. A useful right handed middle order batsman who has been known to bowl interesting left arm spinners if pushed, Gaurav promises to be a useful addition to the rock and roll circus that is DTs. His nickname is no reflection whatsoever of his drinking habits.

Shri is a purveyor of gentle medium pace swing bowling which is sure to get him more wickets if he plays regularly and works on his line and length. He also likes to smite a ball with great ferocity (and a little slog) - causing steam to come out of the Murrayfield-DAFs opening bowler's ears as he slogged him back over his head, batting 9 or 10 in 2004. Shri suffered one of the worst injuries I've seen on a cricket pitch falling over in pursuit of a high ball at Carlton a couple of years a go but it is a measure of the man that he turned out later that season bowling for the 2s with a stookie on!!

Neal is a more than decent medium pace bowler...despite his unfeasibly long run up. Should play more cricket but spends inordinate amounts of time climbing mountains and then injuring himself in the process. A decent lower middle order batsman and competent fielder we look forward to his descent from Mont Blanc to Inverleith Park by the midddle of the season.

Matt simply doesn't play enough games. Holder of the Drummond club record stand (162), Matt is a fine classical batsman and occasional leg spin bowler. A genuine aristocrat, it is about time he had a bit more time off and played cricket. Rumoured connections with the Da Vinci Code are entirely well founded.

Glynn is an absolute stalwart of the club and is a man who has scored more than his share of runs over the years for Trinity. Recently has taken more of a back seat on the playing front but rumours of an artificial wicket being available for 2s games may coax him out of semi-retirement.

One of the clubs few qualified historians. Regular member of the 2nd team squad from 2007-present and 2s vice-captain for 2009.

Chandra is a decent right arm medium fast bowler and can bat a bit down the order. He oozes passion for cricket and oh boy! he can scream. He brings life into the game with his uncanny presence

Usman is a young pace bowler who swings the ball prodigously and tends to take more wickets when he steps up to the 1s which increasingly he does. Famous for taking absolutely no guard whatsoever - he is nevertheless well capable of adding some lusty blows at the tail end of an innings. Recently took his best ever figures of 6-25 v Stenhousemuir 2s a feat which included 4 wickets in 4 balls! Not renowned for his onfield banter - Usman is one of that rare breed - a DT who does his talking with the ball!

All time leading wicket taker for Drummond, Grant's arm has slid lower and lower as the seasons have gone on. A club stalwart, Teach has continued to take wickets whether he bowls early or late in an innings. Probably bowled more maidens than is good for anyone. Has scored good runs in the past and can play crucial innings late in the day still. Renowned for groaning his way through particularly tight matches - "We'll never do it!!" As a man fond of a spot of "Tea & Toast" on a Tuesday evening, Granty is believed to be on the verge of a ground-breaking player sponsorship deal with Hovis.

Ian "Webby" Webster is another club stalwart and was the DTs first Club Chairman. He played a big part in establishing the new club and in chasing the Council for compensation for the sad loss of Bangholm. Along with Glynn Tunnah a major run maker for Trinity over the years, Ian plays a little less often these days. Started League career in 1960's and played on many grounds that are now housing estates.

New member in 2009 Paul always works hard for the team and has stepped up to the 1s on numerous occasions this season. Unfortunately owns a sportscar which is rubbish for getting half the team and kit bags in!
