First Double at Inverleith!
It was a smashing baptism for the new artificial wicket at Inverleith with the 2s recording a thumping victory against Broomhall 2s. Matt Reed christened the new wicket with his maiden DT half-century, followed by Ian Webster also recording a 50 before his hammies gave out!
On the grass pitch, the 1s dodged the showers to record a 72 run victory against a young Haddington side. Jam, with another 50, starred again with the bat in a first innings of 176.
Hope this is the first of many doubles at the Inverleith Park Arena! Kevinio...let's get that "IPA" sponsorship sorted!
DTs Through to Finals Day !!!
The DTs are through to the finals day in the Cow Corner 20/20 after defeating Morton at Leith Links.
Make sure you clear Sunday 10th August in your diary - it should be a great day at Myreside, home of Watsonians CC.
Other qualifiers for the Semis are - Marchmont, Murrayfield DAFs and Edinburgh Accies. Teed up for DT s to be the "surprise package" on the day
Welcome to Baby Jays!!!
For those of you who may not yet have heard, Tim's wife Ruth had a very special delivery on Saturday - Eilidh Armstrong Jays came into the world weighing in at a very respectable 7lbs 12oz...almost as heavy as Imran's bat!
Both Mother & Baby are doing well and Ruth is now back home...no doubt feeling somewhat more comfortable than she was a week ago!
Congrats from all the DTs to Tim & Ruth.
Draft Constitution Completed
The Committee has done a bit of background work and drafted a Club Constitution. It was agreed at the last AGM that this would be done. We will vote on it formally at the next AGM but if anyone would like to see a copy of it before then, we have posted it in the section headed Club Constitution on the left-hand side menu.
ESCA Player of the Month is...Imran Khan!!!
Huge congrats to Imran who has won the ESCA (our league body) player of the month award for May 2008. Full details can be seen at the ESCA website at
http://www.eastleague.org.uk
The award recognises his fantastic effort - with both bat & ball - during the 1st XI's record breaking victory against SMRH 2nd XI on Sat 24 May 2008.
Immy scored 101 not out then took 4 wickets (including a hat-trick!) and deserves all the awards he gets for this very special performance.
Mention must also be made again of Jamal's astonishing 152 score in the same match - it must have been a close call for the ESCA committee as to which DT player to pick for the award!
Well done again to Immy...let's see if the rest of us can bag some more of these ESCA awards before the season ends!

DTs Enjoy Gala Day at "The Pans"
The DT 1st XI reversed the Small Clubs Cup result at the same venue only 6 days earlier. Polwarth Park resounded to the sound of Prestonpans' Gala Day - bagpipes, flute band, kareoke and a Green Day tribute band - we might have been at Sabina Park! DTs bowled well and restricted the home team to 153...between the showers! After a great opening spell by Jammy and Imran, The Village People threatened to post a decent total, but most bowlers weighed in with a wicket or two and a couple of sharp run-outs limited Preston Village to 153. A stuffy reply by the DTs eventually saw us home by 7 wickets with Coolio (49 not out - yep no one told him!) and Gusto (39 not out) sharing an unbroken stand of 82 for the 4th wicket!
6th straight win for DT 2nds

A fine 6th win in a row for the DT seconds with a match winning maiden 52 not out from John Grime and a 5 wicket haul from Stevie 'Croc' Irving making up the highlights.
See the photos in the photo gallery!
Thankyou from Alan Cutter
Steve C has updated the "Alan Cutter hangs up his boots (and gloves!)" string in the FORUM section with details of a thankyou message from Alan.
HISTORY SECTION UPDATED
For all the anoraks out there, Coolio has finally worked out how to upload all the old Drummond stats to the website. They are incomplete but include lots of rare nuggets such as what year did the Teach take 33 wickets? When did Coolio average 40.6 and finish second in the averages? Plus much much more...So for all you anoraks out there - click on the History section and have fun!
It would be good to add some old Trinity stuff in too - even if it was a brief history (Webbie, Glyn, Dave??)
DTs hold nerve for another double!
Both DT teams recorded victories on a gloriously sunny last Saturday in May. The 1s were buoyed at Dunnikier by another wonderful knock by Imran but with little support the innings petered out at 167 looking 20-30 runs short of a good total. A brilliant bowling peformance though cranked the pressure up on the home side who eventually ended 17 runs short on 150-8. A great game played in a smashing spirit all round.
The 2s had an even more remarkable performance against Preston Village 2s. Chasing a total of 119 they won by 1 wicket off the 4th ball of the final over, skipper Jonny Morrow starring with a 43 not out, following good work by Webbie.
Match reports to follow.
Cup Fixtures Updates...
Please note that some of the upcoming cup/midweek fixtures have been changed. The fixture list on the website has been updated accordingly - please refer to this to double check dates/venues/availabilities etc.
The main changes are 1) the 29th May Terry Newcombe match will now be at the Meadows not Leith Links; and 2) the President's Trophy match scheduled for Sunday 1st June will now be on Sunday 15th June.
Titanic Day For DT's On Ferry Road!!!

Club records tumbled during a quite remarkable display of batting from Jam & Immy - coupled with a hat-trick for Immy with the ball!
Full details are in the match report / scorecard and pics of the record day are in the photo section.
Records tumble as DTs rout SMRH - 2s also win 3rd game in a row.
Astonishing victory for the 1s on the artificial wicket at Inverleith against the home side SMRH 2. Batting first the DTs declared their innings after 43.1 overs with a score of 365-1. Jamal scored 152 (including 12 sixes and 14 fours) and put on 212 for the first wicket with Coolio (68 no). Then Imran Scored a rapid 101 not out before Ewen called a halt to the run feast with 7 overs remaining. Then Mandar with 3 and Imran with 4 wickets (including a hat-trick) scuttled out the shell - shocked home team for only 66. A day for records. Only the second and third centuries for the DTs and 2 in one innings for first time. The highest individual score for Jam and the 2 biggest ever partnerships for the club!
A fine tight win for the 2s at Leith where they beat the home team by a handful having only posted a score in the 90s. Dave Armstrong top scored with 21 and the wickets were shared round with some good catches being taken.
Match reports to follow...
Winning Weekend for the DTs...

DT First Team put to sword by Blades
A very disappointing 43 run defeat for the 1s at Haddington's Neilson Park on Saturday where 14 year old Matty Blades bowled like a veteran to take 7 DT scalps while we mostly batted like primary school kids (Jamal who hit 48 apart!). Scorecard is on Fixtures Section - full report to follow.
The 2s were rained off after a handful of overs on Saturday with Kismet 2s on 20 odd for 2.
DTs Back from Dead to rout Marchmont in Presidents Trophy
An amazing fight back by the DTs enabled them to rout Marchmont in the first round of the Presidents Trophy. DTs recovered from 7-5 to post a total of 141, then dismissed the under strength visitors for only 10. Read more in the Scorecard in the Fixtures section...
The Lambshanks Summer BBQ

Pre Season Night Out 1st March
With the Pre season nets starting again on the 9th March 2008.
We thought it would be a good idea to have a night out so we can all remember what each other look like.
The plan is - on Saturday 1st March (this saturday) to go bowling and the back into edinburgh for something to eat and a few drinks.
Meet at 5.30pm at the Corn Exchange for ten pin bowling - Bus number to Corn Exchange is 35. See link for directions http://www.ece.uk.com/location/. Then at around 7.15 back into the centre of town for some food (most probably at Oddfellows - Forest Road) and then for a few drinks wherever the mood takes us.
The cost of bowling will be under £10 and the more people that turn up the cheaper it will be.
This is a great chance to get to know each other again after the winter months, so the more people turning up the better the night will be. WAGS (Wives and Girlfriends) are more than welcome. Also new any new players not on this email list should be invited.
People who are wanting to attend should email Ewen asap so we can book numbers for food and the lanes for bowling. If you are bringing a partner/friend please let me know in this email also.
New Committee
A new committee has been selected at the AGM. Please see club officials section for details.
Make DT's website your homepage
Due to lack of people using the website. We are trying to come up with ideas for more people to use the website.
The first one being setting the DT's webiste as your homepage. If you click on the keep me logged in buton you will always be signed in. You can then keep up to date with all things DTs before going on to look at whatever you want.
We will monitor this and see if this works!
Thanks
Ewen
