Few batsman in the club can smite leather off willow with more power than Gus. A middle order batsman who often gets runs in quick time (because Coolio goes so slow at the start as Gus will usually claim). Seldom seems all that acquainted with the mysteries of spin bowling - i.e. visibly pales at the sight of a spinner and starts to ask everyone which way he is spinning it, then gets out! Bowls occasional swing with great variety - i.e. wicket ball, 4 ball, straight ball, wide, wide, etc. A fantastic fielder though one who never knowingly holds on to a helpful thought on the field of play!
